seja donor pilot 2025

A new way to give (98%)

98% Direct. 2% Essentials. Zero hidden costs.

Almost everything you give goes straight to the ground. The small 2% covers card fees and platform basics.

And the best part? You’ll see it move — with real-time updates via WhatsApp, direct from your changemaker.

How it works →

  • Pick a local leader you want to back for three months. Your support goes straight to their work on the ground.

  • Set up your monthly gift securely through Donorbox. We receive your donation into our UK-registered charity, then transfer it to the changemaker minus 2% to cover card fees and basic operations.

  • Check your email for a WhatsApp invite. Join the group to hear voice notes, see updates, and get a direct line to the changemaker you’re backing. Feel the impact.

  • Over three months, we’ll ask for your reflections. Does this feel different? More human? Your feedback will shape the future of giving — and we’ll send a quick 2-minute Typeform to capture it.

    • Choose another changemaker

    • Stay with the same one

    • Or take a break - it’s up to you.

    • Your impact is in your hands…

Q3.2025

vivendo um sonho

Hope and Haven

From conflict to safety — see how Hope and Haven is protecting and rebuilding lives for Sudanese refugees and displaced families.

wingman mentors

From Luton’s streets to safer futures — meet the mentors guiding young people away from gangs and violence.

Most donors aren’t disengaged — they’re disconnected. 83% want real-time updates. 74% want to choose who they support. Only 41% say giving feels rewarding

That’s why we’re testing a new model:

  • Small donor circles backing one changemaker

  • Real updates — voice notes, wins, and challenges

  • Giving that feels like belonging, not a receipt

This pilot is shaping the SEJA Hub — a space where your support is direct, human, and transparent.

Reimagining Local Giving

faQs

We know giving in a new way raises new questions. Here are some of the most common things people ask about the SEJA Subscriber Pilot — with honest answers.

  • 98%. Almost everything you give goes directly to the local leader you choose.

  • Just the basics — card processing fees and a little admin to keep things running smoothly.

  • Every leader has been vetted by SEJA. They’re trusted voices in their communities, with proven track records of impact.

  • All funds are processed through SEJA (a UK & US registered nonprofit), transferred securely, and tracked closely. You’ll also see updates straight from the field via WhatsApp.

  • Expect voice notes, photos, and stories directly from the changemaker — usually once or twice a week.

  • You can keep supporting the same changemaker, switch to a new one, or take a break — it’s completely up to you. We’ll email you before the three months are up as a reminder.

  • Yes. If you’ve built a connection, you can absolutely keep backing them.

  • Yes — UK taxpayers can add Gift Aid, and US donors can claim tax relief through our 501(c)(3). (If you’re giving from the US, please contact us for the correct donation link.)

  • Of course. We’ll send you updates by email if that’s what you prefer.

  • This isn’t charity as usual. Instead of a receipt in your inbox and a glossy report at the end of the year, you actually see your money move in real time.

You’ll hear directly from the local leader you’re backing — voice notes, photos, and stories straight from the ground. It’s raw, human, and personal.

And because 98% of your gift goes straight to the ground, you know your support is fuelling the work, not overhead.

It’s a completely new way of giving — transparent, connected, and built for people who want to feel part of the change.

  • Short answer - We don’t. The 2% only covers card fees and our donation platform. Our core operations are funded separately by a wide range of corporate partners — you can see them showcased below.

  • Because we want this to feel different. Three months is long enough to give a changemaker real stability, but short enough that you stay in control of your impact.

This isn’t another subscription you forget to cancel — it’s a conscious choice. At the end of three months, you decide: stay with the same changemaker, switch to a new one, or take a break. The point is you choose, not us.
